About

The Mildura Horse Trials was started in 2006 by three Year 12 students as part of their Equine Studies course. The event was a success and is now run annually by the local pony club.

In previous years, the event has attracted over fifty competitors from Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. The Mildura Horse Trials was not held in 2008 due to the Equine Influenza outbreak and horse movement bans. During that time volunteers spent many hours upgrading and redesigning the Cross Country course, with the professional guidance of Ewan Kellett. Ewan is an internationally accredited cross country course builder and was invited to Hong Kong to assist with construction of the cross country course used for the Beijing Olympics.

New clubroom facilities are currently under way and are looking to be completed in 2010. The pony club is also applying for funding to build a new 1* star Cross Country course.
